A brief boat trip from Singapore, Batam in Indonesia’s Riau archipelago is a favorite weekend destination and a fantastic side trip from Singapore and Malaysia. Aside from its proximity to Singapore, this tiny island has been frequented by people due to its lovely beaches, posh resorts, large shopping malls, and lively nightlife. Here, I have compiled a listing of awesome things you could experience in Batam.

  1. Shop at Nagoya Hill Mall

Doesn’t Nagoya remind you of Narayan’s new suitcase? The biggest shopping center in Batam, Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall has become the most crowded and visible mall due to its perfect location. You can find everything like souvenirs, clothes, perfumes, and amazing electronics! Don’t miss this place!

  1. Experience Outdoor Activities

If shopping isn’t your thing, you can do outdoor activities. From flying fox to jet skiing, windsurfing and parasailing, Batam caters to your actions whether you are at sea or in high atmospheres.

  1. Strolling around Batam City Square (BSC)

Pay (or splurge) a day off at BSC Mall. This is the place to look for affordable clothing. It is possible to get your nails done too at many cheap and good nail salons out there. Don’t forget to stop by some of the restaurants in the mall to fulfill your Indonesian culinary desires.

  1. Kayaking

Kayaking is a great way to have an intimate time with your partner or bond with your loved ones, members, and friends. Not only is it entertaining, but it also allows you to burn off those extra calories. Most hotels in Batam provide this relaxing water game and so don’t ignore it.

  1. Visiting Temples

Maybe not an adventurous individual? Visit serene temples like Tua Pek Kong Temple and Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple to re-establish internal peace. Here, it is possible to give incense for great health and good luck. In addition, you can easily see the Buddha statues and attractive attributes of these twelve zodiac animals right opposite the temple. Don’t be afraid to check out some mouth-watering vegetarian buns inside the temple.

  1. Witnessing Sunsets in Barelang Bridge

Back in San Francisco, there is the Golden Gate Bridge. In Batam, there is the Barelang Bridge, a series of six different bridges connecting the islands of Batam, Rempang, and Galang. Enjoy the beautiful sea views and wait for the magnificent sunset while you are here.

  1. Relaxing Massage

Following some fun acts in Batam, what your system wants is a 2-hour massage. Yes, at Reborn Massage and Reflexology (next to BSC Theater), a relaxing full-body massage awaits you. My favorite massage area is after the experienced therapist puts a hot towel on the back of my neck near the end of the session. So warm and cozy, it dispelled my worries in a thin atmosphere.

  1. Local Food Culinary

In addition to doing massages, you also have to enjoy the typical cuisine of the island of Batam, which is very delicious. Wait until you want the hot scallops, black pepper crabs, steamed fish in Teochew style, fried golden calamari, giant tasty prawns, and delicious oysters.

  1. Enjoying KTM Resort

You can find great things at KTM Resort (20 minutes by car at Sekupang ferry terminal). Spend a lovely, humid evening in one of the romance log huts away from everyone and everything else. Don’t worry about the absence of after-dinner programs, like pool tables, karaoke rooms, and board games are just a few of the many great amenities to keep you busy. Give yourself sufficient time to enjoy the beauty of this environment. Just take a stroll or an OOTD together with the gorgeous landscapes of the KTM hotel.

Vacation is more than just the scenery, and it’s about making long-lasting memories. Discover more adventures in Batam by visiting Wonderful Indonesia.
