Why “plink?”
Because it’s the sound a lot of mobile devices make, and NewsPlink is meant to be informative and fun to read on a hand-held. As NewsPlink is able to adopt new technologies, the fun should evolve and increase — and improve.
Unlike most news sites, NewsPlink thinks news can come from anywhere, including you. (See the big red “Submit a Plink” button at the top right.) With our help, anybody with a good story can practice good journalism.
Some of us are refugee journalists from old-school news organizations. Some of us just have impressively tuned noses.
NewsPlink starts at about 3 minutes, 20 seconds. The entire clip is less than five minutes long.
The original source and KTVU’s written news story are here: “Democracy in Peril as Newspapers Crumble.”

Michael Perlstein – Gilt-Edged Contributing Editor, Writer and Photographer
Ask him about the time he ditched his car at the airport while being chased by an angry, inebriated South Louisiana sheriff. Michael’s coverage of crime, cops and corruption in New Orleans for the fabled Times-Picayune helped prepare him for the horrors of Hurricane Katrina, for which he won two honest-to-God Pulitzer Prizes.
