Fantastic pictures! They really bring alive the feel and movement of the flambeaux carriers at night. Great job! This article shows a slice of life of New Orleans... Also loved the mention of the Day of the Dead ceremonies...

Yes, great story, great photos, still the greatest place in the U.S.A. Just hope they don't convert from kerosene to coal-to-liquid (CTL) transpo fuel, as the U.S. Air Force is now.

You captured both the mystique and the fortitude of the flambeaux carriers --- and therefore the mystique and the fortitude of the city where they live. This presentation captures the allure of a city that embraces the things that last, whether it is mold or merriment.

Hi My Friends,
I miss all the fun of Super Sunday, Mardi Gras, Zulu Balls, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, Tomato Fest and the first opening of football season with the Saints game.

As I looked at the flambeaux carriers, my heart just wept. I miss New Orleans and the homey kind of feeling you get from being there. I hope this site brings others who are now living elsewhere a little taste of home at least for a few moments. I've traveled back and forth to New Orleans but only briefly because of time. But I know when I'm home. There is no place like it. And for all of you who have made New Orleans home from some other place, welcome! It's a wild, beautiful kind of ride... Love, LA-TX DEVA.
